Farm Manager Role in Tauwhare

RECO is pleased to present this fantastic Farm Manager position located in the Tauwhare district. Only 15-20 minutes to Cambridge, Morrinsville and Hillcrest, Hamilton. This farm has great infrastructure and flat to easy rolling contour making this position much to be desired for.

This farm has been recently purchased by owners that are new to dairy, expanding from their drystock business so we are in need of a competent operator. This position is open for 1 June 2024 start. This is your opportunity to make your mark! There will also be a Senior Farm Assistant/2IC to support you in this role.

• 180,000kgMS target

• 36 aside herringbone cowshed that is centrally located

• 380 peak milking Friesian/ Friesian cross cows

• System 4

• In-shed feeding

• Covered feed pad with flood wash

• Concrete bunker to store >200tDM of silage

• Plenty of shedding for calves and machinery

• 2 homes on farm for the Manager and 2IC

• Well constructed race network

• Roster to be determined with successful applicant

What we are looking for in an applicant?

• Confident and competent farm manager that has preferably had experience with a feed pad operation or higher per cow production >450kgMS

• Passion for pasture. First and foremost, you must be able to understand and execute on what target pre and post grazing residuals are required at different times of the year.

• Animal health is always a priority. Strong history of calving and mating sucess is required

• Spring rotation planners - can you accurate allocate feed according to the plan

• Attention to detail. Must have a good knowledge or willingness to learn about all the details required to be recorded for farming. MINDA, Dairy Diary etc.

• Open communication - this is a must. The more informed we are, the better plans we can put in place for you.

• Fit, healthy and tidy individual.

• Planning and transparency to achieve incentives for performance and reproductive results.

• Having the want to learn more and continue to become a better farmer
